Autumn Song

Country mouse meets City mouse. Rancher girl meets Lawyer boy. And the sparks fly.

This was a delightful book to read, stepping into the life of Kathleen Muldoon, the rancher girl who doesn't want to live on a ranch. Instead she wants to work with the local doctor, a profession frowned upon by society in the late 1800s. When Daniel Monroe comes to town, Kathleen meets him with preconceived ideas. She thinks he is too uppity for the growing Texas town.

As Kathleen learns to be a top-notch nurse, she also learns about relationships. And David finds out what in life is worth valuing. David sets up his new office and takes on clients. Kathleen tries to avoid him, unsure of the awkward feeling she has when she is around him.

I liked watching/reading the relationship develop between Kathleen and David. I wasn't really sure if I would like this book, but decided to give it a chance. I am glad I did. I honestly had to fight the urge to literally judge this book by it's cover. I find the cover very dark and uninviting. But the words inside are welcoming and bright.
